1 Peter 4:8 Most important of all have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].
There was a man I used to work with that was obnoxious, irritating, and very challenging to get along with. It was like he thrived on fussing and arguing.
But when I got saved God changed my heart toward him. I saw him differently, he couldn’t do anything wrong, the things that used to bother me didn’t anymore.
When we love people with God’s love, we can see beyond their faults. We can look past the sin (irritation, aggravation) and love the person.
When I stopped fussing and arguing with him, he started changing. The fussing and arguing just disappeared. The attitudes and the atmosphere changed. It was so good.
Love isn’t about having your way, it’s not about who’s right or wrong, it’s not about blame, it’s not about proving yourself, it’s not about offenses, it’s not about putting others down, and it’s not superficial.
It’s about putting others first, it’s about doing what’s right, it’s about compassion, unity, harmony, helping others, it’s about being genuine, it’s about one heart, one mind and one voice.
That’s God’s love in us, that’s how it thinks, how it talks and how it acts.
