We Can Do This

Numbers 14:8 The land flows with milk and honey. So stop this moaning and wailing! If we all do what is right in the eyes of God, He will bring us into the land and make it ours.

Caleb and Joshua had just returned from spying out the Promised Land. All the spies who had gone with him, except Joshua, came back with an evil report. They said the land was good, flowing with milk and honey, but it would be impossible to conquer.

When all the Israelites heard that news, they started weeping and wailing. Caleb interrupted them, “Wait a minute! If the Lord is pleased with us, He will lead us into that land…and will give it to us.”

Caleb wasn’t just being positive – God had already promised to give them the land. He was declaring God’s Word and saying by faith, “We can do this!” But their bad report was speaking unbelief. They said, “We can’t do this! We may as well have died in the wilderness.”

In the end that entire generation of doubters died in the wilderness, but Caleb and Joshua laid claim to the land and walked right into it. So, everyone got what they said!
