Drawing Near to God

James 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

Since we’ve been reconciled back to God by Jesus that gives us the right to draw near to Him. We’re His family.

Do you draw near to your family? We keep up with our kids, their schoolwork, who they associate with, their needs (clothes, food, etc.), their activities and taking time to just be with them. Do we draw near to our spouse? Do we see to their needs and the responsibilities we have toward them? Do we also draw near to other family and friends? Sure, we do.

So, doesn’t it make sense to draw near to the One who chose us before the foundation of the world, Who knew us before we were born, Who created us and designed us just like Him, Who gave us dominion and authority over the earth, and gave us everything we wanted. We’re His children. Don’t children draw near to their parents? Sure, they do.
